IB – Diploma Students undertake a River Study Project in Nilgiris

OEF: River Study by Students

One Earth Foundation recently organized a project focused field trip for a leading Mumbai based IB school to the lower ranges of the Nilgiris.  As part of their IB assessment, the students had to undertake an intensive River Study Project.  One Earth Foundation evaluated several rivulets and rivers flowing down from the higher ranges of the Nilgiris and narrowed down on the Kallar river.  The project lasted 2 days and the students trekked approx. 12 kms collecting data from 20+ data points along the river.  Not only were they able to successfully collect the required data, but One Earth Foundation also organized a special training module in remote sensing and GIS techniques.  These techniques and tools were successfully used by the students in their River project.
