Masterchefs: A Culinary Fest & Competition of global cuisines

The shopping for the Competition

One Earth Foundation recently organized an educational field excursion for 20+ students from a leading IB school from Mumbai.  One of the days was reserved for our Culinary Fest – Masterchef as planned by the school and its students in advance. Our enthusiastic students were divided into 5 regions – Americas, Asia, Oceania, Europe and Africa.  The days schedule was well laid out:

Shopping in the local market: 10 am till 12 am
Preparation from 1230 till 1430 hrs
Cooking from 1430 Hrs till 1730 Hrs (in batches)
Presentations from 1730 Hrs onwards.

Enthusiasm ran high and the 15 culinary delights representing the entire world were mouth watering – to say the least.  The accompanying school teachers and Raminder Chowdhary from One Earth Foundation were the Masterchef judges who were strict and fair in their judgments.  The teams were given 5 minutes each to present their region, its culture and talk about the dishes they had chosen to represent this region. Food tasting followed and points were awarded.  Nervousness and anxiety ran high among the team members.   Excellent job by our students and what a tremendous learning experience.  Here are some photos of the day.
