Well Done, Ranjeetha

Kurumbas tribal girl Ranjeetha being rewarded by Raminder Chowdhary (OEF) for her performance in state boards

Project Umeed

L. Ranjeetha, the daughter of K. Lakshmanan and resident of Kolithorai village in Nilgiris, is amongst the few Kurumbas who attempted the state boards in 2011.  Her village is over 1 hours walk from the nearest road and her high school was another 20 Kms away.  Inspite of all odds her father ensured that she does not give up her studies and complete her boards.  She fared very well and One Earth Foundation under its project Umeed acknowledges her effort and rewarded her for her achievement.

Ranjeetha now studies Economics at Nirmala College in Coimbatore and aims to be a teacher.  Though her fee has been subsidized, she is unable to find an affordable place to stay in Coimbatore.  The struggle continues and we wish her all the best for ther future.

Keep it up Ranjeetha!
